Lama Tsultrim Yeshe Visit February 2nd-6th
Karma Thegsum Choling Jacksonville is happy to welcome back Lama Tsultrim Yeshe the first weekend in February. Lama Yeshe’s kind mid-west demeanor and gracious presentation of dharma teachings are sure to bring benefit to our daily lives and practice.
PUBLIC TALK:
Using Life’s Manure For Spiritual Growth
February 2nd, Friday Night 7:00-8:30pm
We can face many difficult situations as we go through life. No matter how hard we try to avoid problems and pain they still are present in our lives. Rather than trying to get away from or being controlled by painful past experiences, this program will show you how to use difficult, even traumatic, experiences to grow and develop. The program covers trauma, anger, self-loathing, and depression. Just as a flower transforms manure into a blossom, you can learn, through love and nurturing, to grow, be happier and be more content. The techniques are forgiveness, love, compassion, mindfulness, and understanding. Participants will learn methods they can apply to their daily lives when they return home.
TEACHING: Emotional Healing Weekend Workshop
February 3rd-4th, Saturday and Sunday
10:00am-Noon and 2:00p-4:00pm
Sometimes it seems like difficulties and painful emotions follow us around like our shadow, but it doesn’t have to be this way. While difficulties in life are unavoidable, suffering is optional. This program will explore why some emotions leave us wounded and how to encourage emotions that heal and lead to happiness. We will also explore themes of past trauma, negative childhood experiences, grief, self-compassion, and resiliency.

Bringing the Buddha’s Teachings into Daily Life
February 9 – Public dharma talk 7:00-8:30pm

Being a dharma practitioner is not contrary to being successful in your mundane life. The teachings show us how to navigate the stormy waves of birth, old age, sickness, and death with skill and wisdom. As we progress on the path through listening, contemplating, and applying the teachings, we find growing satisfaction, happiness, and harmony in our lives. The path leads to seeing our mundane life and our spiritual life as inseparable.
