Saturday, February 13th, 2010 Meditation Instruction at Karma Thegsum Chöling Jacksonville Meditation is the fundamental practice of all Buddhist traditions, and it's benefits are immeasurable no matter what your religious beliefs or background. Instruction in Shamata (sanskrit), also called Shinay (tibetan), calm abiding meditation will be given by our Director Michael Turnquist, an authorized meditation instructor, on Saturday, February 13th at 9:00am. ( Instructors at Karma Thegsum Chöling Jacksonville have received approval to teach the Buddhist method of meditation from the Abbot of Karma Triyana Dharmachakra Monastery). The doors will open at 8:45am, and the session will begin promptly at 9:00 am and will last approximately 1 hour. At 10:00am, we will have our regular Saturday morning meditation session for about 20-25 minutes, followed by the practice of Chenrizik (the Buddha of Infinite Compassion) at 10:30am, the practice of Amitabha, and the practice of Guru Rinpoche. These puja practices last about an hour and all are welcome to stay and attend if your schedule permits! This session is open to the public, and is free of charge, although donations are always welcome! Please be prompt so that we may begin at 9:00am. |

Saturday, February 13th Lama Khandro will also be conducting a life release during the Chenrezik practice as part of the Losar festivities. After practice on Saturday, KTC Jacksonville will be having a vegetarian pot luck in celebration of Losar (The Tibetan New Year) which is Sunday, February 14th. Bring your favorite vegetarian dish or finger food! All are welcome! Come celebrate the year of the metal tiger! |
